I had the pleasure of actually spending some quality time in Vancouver, BC this past week and a half and let me tell you...it has quickly become one of my favorite international cities! The food, fashion, shopping, photography and hospitality are at the top of my list. Here's a quick overview of my time spent in the city. I had the pleasure of staying downtown, which meant everything was very walkable and super accessible. There is NO UBER there...so having things in walking distance is very important! Close by was everything from Aritzia, to Sephora to great bakeries like Ladurée Macaroon Patisserie and restaurants like Boulevard. One of the major highlights of the trip was the shopping. Your American dollar goes FAR right now in Canada...not to mention ALL of the sales that were already in place! There was a 50-70% off sale at Aritzia and Wilfred. Insane prices for great finds. Similar sales could be found at TNA...where I found these awesome Camo work out pants by Parklife for just $35!
BCBGMAXAZRIA showed great sales for everything from shorts and tank tops to evening dresses. You may recognize this outfit from one of my Instagram photo shoots...What I ended up paying for this outfit after sale and conversion rate was mind blowing.
I also discovered the unique and fun Vancity brand. It's a huge thing there representing city pride. Everyone wears these shirts and hoodies so we had to get our own! Look them up on Instagram! So if you're going to Canada soon but sure to leave room in your luggage for some shopping! I had to bring a third bag home to fit all of my findings in, and get it all back to Dallas!
The food...well it was a little tough, my husband and I both being on strict diets for our various happenings these days...but we were able to have a couple of cheat days and splurge. My favorite eats were Rogue Kitchen + Bar. We went there for the actual big cheat meal of calamari, burgers, fried chicken and ALL OF THE FRIES! Gorgonzola and bacon Fries to be specific. Worth every single calorie. I've never met a cheese fry that I did not like!
I was lucky to get in a couple of sweet treats too! Like these amazing macaroons from Ladurée! The flavors were spot on! My favorites were the vanilla, salted caramel and Rose flavors. I could have those every single day if I wasn't body conscious 😩 I'd also indulge more in things like this delicious red velvet cake with cream cheese icing and raspberry sauce from Boulevard! It was as decadent and sinful as it appears. I regret nothing except my inability to finish the whole thing!
The best thing about my trip for me was getting to work with so many talented and creative minds on modeling shoots. Vancouver was the easiest place I've ever been able to pull teams together and get some real creative art together without much fuss or silly ego interference. The modeling world is tough. In the states it's tough to assemble creative shoots. Even for me! Vancouver was so fun, getting to work with photographers Jason Harnyk, Arjun Mallick and Nick Thiessen (you can find links to all of their instagrams on my page). We had a solid time and I got to shoot some pretty dreamy looks.
Looking forward to my next trip to Vancouver! It's an awesome city with such a great vibe professionally and in leisure. I absolutely love it and can't wait to return.
